CME Awards Programs

CME Awards Program 2009-2010

Awards Program Summary

CME, as the face and voice of manufacturers & exporters, seeks to profile individuals and companies who have achieved notable success in initiating, improving, or growing a manufacturing business in Manitoba.

These awards are designed to recognize excellence in a public way through a special awards event held each year during Manufacturing Week as well as through the Hall of Fame display located in the University of Manitoba Engineering atrium.

The current program consists of four awards:
  • The Hall of Fame award (nomination form ) celebrates individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the development of their company or companies. There are 13 people who have been recognized to date.
  • The Export award (nomination form ) is granted each year to a company demonstrating excellence in expanding their markets numerically and geographically.
  • The Pioneer award (nomination form ) will look back at those people who began a manufacturing business in Manitoba and nurtured it into a successful company. Most Manitoba companies are home-grown organizations and this award will recognize the key builders of our manufacturing community. Pioneer Award recipients will have launched a successful company - (the development of a company from start up to significant and sustainable enterprise).
  • The Emerging (nomination form ) award is designed to recognize relatively new manufacturing organizations as separate from larger, more established manufacturers. The award will capture entrepreneurs who have excelled in starting a new company with substantial upside potential. Criteria used to determine recipients for this award will include degree of revenue growth, use of technology and innovation, the degree of impact on the Manitoba and global marketplace, as well as achievement of important milestones.

A panel of business and academic leaders will evaluate the candidates presented for each of these awards with the final selections identified by October 30th. This will allow for the development of the promotional material and appropriate communication in time for the public presentations during Manufacturing Week in March.
