Industrial Workplace Reading, Writing, and Math Assessment
The Industrial Workplace Reading, Writing, and Math Assessment booklet is an assessment of workplace reading, writing, and math skills commonly used in entry-level positions in the manufacturing sector. There are twenty-four questions, some of which have sub-questions. All questions are about reading or writing on actual workplace documents, or doing workplace math.
Test items about math are about workplace calculations and measurements. Test items about writing are workplace related. That is, a candidate may be asked to write a note to a supervisor to outline the status of production or to report machinery failure. The proportion of writing to math and reading questions reflects the frequency of use of those skills in the workplace. The test integrates reading, writing, math, and document use in a workplace problem-solving context. It is a good assessment of the essential skills required in entry-level positions in a manufacturing setting.
